According to the Chinese zodiac, 2017 was the year of the rooster. Personally, we think every year is a chicken year, but we’re always glad when the stars aline.
We thought we’d share our most popular recipes from last year to give you a little dinnertime inspo for 2018, because nothing shakes you out of last year’s dinner prep rut like some tasty recipes; MLF family approved!
We’re not surprised that this recipe was our most popular recipe of 2017. Want instant Cool Mom (or Cool Dad) cred? Make your kids chicken covered in cheesy-flavoured nacho chips. Trust us, they’ll be bragging all over the schoolyard about the culinary prowess that enables you to turn their favourite snack into their favourite dinner.
Cranberry Dijon Chicken Wellington
You loved this festive recipe when it debuted on our Facebook Page during the holidays last year, and we can certainly see why! It looks so fancy it’s bound to impress your dinner guests, but it only takes 40 minutes to make. However, if you still want to tell your guests you slaved in the kitchen all day creating a pastry masterpiece, we won’t tell on you! 😉
Chicken thighs are usually cheaper than chicken breasts, which makes this recipe as budget-friendly as it is delicious. Ricotta cheese and fresh basil make this taste like a gourmet meal at a fancy Italian restaurant, but it’s cost-effective enough to make any time!
This protein-packed take on potato salad from amazing food- and mom-blogger Simply Stacie dominated BBQ season, and was the perfect way to introduce our new Smokies Chicken Sausages. We think we’ve successfully proved Homer Simpson wrong, you can make friends with salad … if it has chicken sausage!
Chicken and Mushroom Puff Pastry Bundles
Pastry was so popular in 2017 that we had two recipes featuring its flaky goodness make their way into our top five! We brought chicken together with mushrooms and parmesan cheese to create our homemade, grown-up take on a pizza pop! (Although, in our experience, kids gobble these up too!)
