Ingredients

  • 3 (300 g) ULTIMATE Mild Italian Chicken Dinner Sausages

  • 1 lb (450 g) pizza dough

  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) tomato passata sauce

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried oregano

  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt

  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) black pepper

  • 1 small red onion, sliced into rounds

  • 1 red bell pepper, quartered

  • 8 oz (250 g) fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) fresh basil leaves, torn

Directions

1Preheat grill to medium-high heat; grease grates well.

2On lightly floured work surface, cut pizza dough in half. Roll out each into 9-inch (23 cm) circle, about 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) thick. Transfer each to a parchment paper-lined pizza pan or baking sheet.

3In medium bowl, stir together passata, garlic, oregano, salt and black pepper.

4Grill sausages, turning frequently, for 15 to 18 minutes or until cooked through and internal temperature registers 165˚F (74˚C).

5Grill onion and red pepper, turning once, for 6 to 10 minutes or until well-marked and tender.

6Slice sausages into thin rounds, and cut veggies into small pieces.

7Use grill brush to clean grill; grease grates well.

8Transfer each pizza dough to grill grates; grill for 2 to 3 minutes or until bubbles start to form, and bottoms are well-marked. Flip and grill for 2 to 3 minutes or until bottoms are well-marked. Transfer grilled pizza crusts to baking sheets.

9Reduce temperature of one half of grill to low heat.

10Divide passata evenly between grilled crusts, leaving 1/2-inch (1 cm) border. Top evenly with cheese, sausage, onion and red pepper.

11Transfer pizza to side of grill that is set to low heat. Cover and cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until cheese has melted. Garnish with basil before serving.
